Mr Aloba Joseph Oluwabamiwo, the father of late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba (MohBad), on Wednesday, narrated the relationship that existed between the deceased and his former label boss, Azeez Fashola (Naira Marley) before the coroner inquest in Ikorodu.

Mr Aloba was the first witness in the proceedings at the Coroner set up by the Lagos state government to unravel the circumstances leading to the death of Mohbad.

While giving evidence before Magistrate Adedayo Sotobi, he narrated how Mohbad and three of his workers had been allegedly assaulted by Naira Marley ‘s boys sometime in October 2022, when he visited the deceased.

He also explained that the deceased had once told him about a substance that he was given to drink while in custody of the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA, after which he was eventually released and since then he had not been feeling well until his untimely demise.

He added that there are several instances when the deceased and his wife had misunderstandings. He said, “More often he was always telling me that his wife did not give him rest of mind and peace at home. I have gone there more than three times to resolve issues between them.”

Ajisegiri Ayobami, a disc jockey for the late singer, who was the second witness, said that Mohbad started vomiting after he was administered an injection by a nurse.

Ajisegiri explained that he had attended a show in Ikorodu with Mohbad prior to his death.

He noted that after the show, the deceased had a fight with his friend, Owodunni Ibrahim (Primeboy) and hit his hand on a car side mirror which led to the injury on his right hand.

He added that they tried to call Mohbad’s personal nurse, but she said she was not around, so one of their team members, Ayobami Sodiq (Spending) invited a nurse who came to administer an injection on him.

The witness said when he got there, he saw that Mohbad had collapsed on the floor and vomited the noodles that he had eaten, and goosebumps were on his body.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s mother, Aloba Abosede, while giving her testimony in tears, told the court that she was not allowed to see her son’s remains before he was taken away.

She added in her narration that the late afrobeat singer lived in fear till his death.

After listening to the testimonies from all three witnesses, Magistrate Sotobi adjourned till November 7 for further hearing.

The coroner had summoned Naira Marley, Samuel Eletu aka Sam Larry, and Primeboy to appear before it. However, Daily Trust observed that the trio were not in court during yesterday’s proceeding.
