The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Monday, stressed the need to probe the reasons behind the success stories of mega churches in some parts of the world.

Adeboye said mega churches in the Global South had continued to grow enormously in the ever competitive global religious environment in the last 30 years.

The cleric said this at a three-day international conference on the eruption of mega churches in the Global South organised by the RCCG in collaboration with the John Templeton Foundation, United States.

Adeboye spoke on the theme of the conference, ‘Imaging Mega Churches In The Global South and Beyond: Trends, Trajectories and Impact’, held at the Redemption Camp, Ogun State.

The conference was attended by representatives of countries from Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa and the Asian Pacific, which are referred to as the Global South.

Adeboye was represented by the RCCG Intercontinental Overseer for the African Region, Pastor Johnson Odesola.

The GO noted that mega churches in the Global South had continued to spread their religious frontiers to the Global North, including Europe and North America.

He described the growth of mega churches as “a global phenomenon.”
