A Chief Magistrate Court in Abuja has granted bail to the convener of #RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore and four others charged with him.
Magistrate Mabel Segun Bello, in the bail application ruling on Monday, ordered Sowore to produce a bail bond of N20m and two sureties, one of whom must be a civil servant of not below the rank of grade level 12, in like sum.
Magistrate Bello further directed that the sureties must be resident in Abuja metropolis with landed property and verifiable address.

As part of the terms of the bail, she directed Sowore, who was barred from travelling outside Abuja and the country, to report physically to the FCT High Court registrar every Monday and Friday until the determination of the case against him.
As for the four other defendants, the magistrate ordered them to produce a bail bond of N1m each and one surety in like sum each.
The Nigerian Police arraigned Sowore before a Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja on three-count First Information Report of criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly and inciting public disturbance following his arrest on Friday’s New Year eve in Gudu, Abuja.
The co-defendants are: Peter Williams, Sanyaolu Juwon, Emmanuel Bulus and Damilare Ademila.
The case was adjourned to February 5 for hearing.
The court had earlier fixed ruling on the bail application for Friday January 9, but it was forced to adjourn after the Nigerian Police failed to produce the defendants in court.
Defence counsel, Marshal Abubakar informed journalists that when the Deputy Inspector General of Police in-charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) was contacted, he said the failure to produce the activist was because the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) directed that the Director of Public Prosecutions takeover the matter and others involving the #RevolutionNow movement.
