Happy almost yuletide season! If you think it’s too early to start your Christmas shopping, think again.

Early Christmas shopping is a smart move because it helps you save money and spare you from all that last-minute rushing around.

We all know how consumables and cloths skyrocket in prices during Christmas season.  Also, the current global inflation rate obviously means we may actually get more expensive Christmas this year.

So, make a smart move, buy and store these items now

FOOD

A typical Nigerian christmas must have rice, meat, chinchin and drinks in almost every home.

It is important to know what you’re having for the Christmas meal at least a month in advance. This will allow you to start buying the foodstuffs and drinks that are on sale and aren’t perishable.

Write it all out on a list, then list the ingredients separately. From the ingredients list, highlight all the foods that can be bought early.

Items like- Rice, flour, drinks, cooking oil, milk, sugar, canned foods, spices and others.

Make storage space. Check the freezer, pantry and refrigerator for space that can be spared to contain all of the Christmas goodies you’re purchasing ahead of time.

GIFTS

We all love gifts and Christmas is that perfect time for a beautiful gift to celebrate and appreciates friends and family.

Note that Christmas presents should figure into your household or personal budget for the entire year, instead of just trying to find extra money somehow every November or December. You can always start by saving a small amount every month.

Decide on what sort of gift matches each person on your list and buy them immediately.

Hiding is the hardest part of buying a gift early, but it’s perfectly possible. If you live with the person, it’s best to choose somewhere the other person is not likely to look.

CHRISTMAS WEARS

Almost every child in Nigeria knows how sacrosanct it is to wear new clothes on Christmas day. If you don’t, I do…..lolzzzz…..

In fact, buying of wears for Christmas can start as early as June.

Also, you can decide to plan ahead for next year’s Christmas and buy Christmas end-of-sales items for even less by January. Gift wraps, Christmas cards, decorations and plastic tree have heavy discounts hit in January.
