The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has revoked the land allocations of several high-profile political figures, including Bayelsa Governor Senator Douye Diri, Imo Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, and PDP National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, among others.

These revocations affect 568 individuals whose land allocations in Maitama II, Cadastral Zone A10, Abuja were withdrawn due to non-payment of Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) bills.

According to Lere Olayinka, the Minister’s media aide, the revocation follows the expiration of an additional two-week grace period given to the land allottees to settle their C-of-O bills.

In early October, 3,273 land allottees were given two weeks to pay or risk losing their Right of Occupancy (R-of-O) titles. While 2,511 complied, 762 individuals failed to do so. These 762 were granted an additional two weeks, but as of January 15, only 194 paid, leaving 568 individuals whose land allocations were revoked.

A Notice of Withdrawal of Right of Occupancy, issued by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), stated that those who failed to make payments within the grace period were in contravention of the terms of their land grants, leading to the withdrawal of their R-of-O titles.

However, the notice clarified that those who completed their payments by January 15, 2025, would not be affected by the revocation.
