2023: Atiku beats Wike, others to PDP’s ticket

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has emerged as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Atiku emerged on Saturday during the party’s presidential convention held at MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

He scored 371 votes to beat his closest rival, Rivers state governor Nysome Wike who scored 237 votes. Former Senate President Bukola Saraki polled 70 votes to place third.

Void votes – 12

Voting by national delegates was done state by state and in alphabetical order and it ended at 10.10 p.m.

The sorting of votes began at 10.18 p.m.

Twelve aspirants contested the election where 767 out of 774 delegates voted.
