The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced applications for its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for available positions through its official online recruitment portal. Applications are free and must be submitted online before the deadline.
Interested applicants are required to complete the process through the official INEC recruitment portal by creating an account, filling out the online application form, uploading the required documents and submitting their application after reviewing all entries.
Step 1: Visit the Official Portal
Applicants should visit the official INEC recruitment portal and create an applicant account using their personal details, email address and National Identification Number (NIN). The commission has warned that the application is completely free and that candidates should not pay anyone for employment.
Step 2: Verify Your Email
After creating an account, applicants are required to verify their email address before proceeding with the recruitment process.
Step 3: Select Your Preferred Position
Candidates should choose the cadre and vacancy they are qualified for before completing the application form. Available positions include Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) and Executive Officer (Registration Officer), among others.
Step 4: Complete the Application Form
Applicants must accurately provide their personal information, educational qualifications, employment history where applicable, and other required details. Providing false information may lead to disqualification.
Step 5: Upload Required Documents
Applicants are expected to upload the required credentials, including:
* Passport photograph
* Birth certificate or declaration of age
* O’Level result
* Degree, HND, ND or NCE certificate (where applicable)
* Local Government identification certificate
* NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate (where applicable)
Step 6: Review and Submit
Candidates should carefully review all information before submitting their application online. Multiple applications may result in disqualification.
General Requirements
According to INEC, applicants must meet the eligibility requirements for their chosen position, possess the relevant educational qualifications, demonstrate good character, be medically fit, and be willing to work anywhere in the country where required.
The commission reiterated that the recruitment exercise is completely free, warning applicants against paying any individual or agent or using unofficial recruitment websites. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
