The Gunners had been closely monitoring negotiations between Vinicius and Real Madrid, hoping a breakdown in talks could create an opportunity to lure the winger to the Emirates as manager Mikel Arteta sought to strengthen his left flank with an elite attacker.
Instead, Real Madrid successfully secured the 26-year-old’s long-term future after reportedly improving their contract offer during high-level meetings with the player’s representatives.

Confirming the extension, Vinicius celebrated the agreement on social media, writing: “Eight years at the Bernabeu is too short… six more years and forever.”
The Brazilian joined Real Madrid from Flamengo as an 18-year-old and has since developed into one of the club’s biggest stars, playing a central role in one of the most successful periods in the club’s recent history.
In a statement announcing the renewal, Real Madrid described Vinicius as “one of the most important players in one of the most successful periods in our history.”
The renewal is also understood to have been influenced by Vinicius’ strong relationship with new Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho, who reportedly considers the Brazilian a key figure in his plans for the club.
Mourinho has consistently expressed his desire to build his attack around Vinicius, a factor said to have reinforced the player’s decision to remain in Madrid.
For Arsenal, the development represents a significant setback in their search for attacking reinforcements.
Arteta’s side had identified the left wing as a priority position this summer and viewed Vinicius as one of the few players capable of immediately elevating the Premier League champions’ attacking options.
The North London club are now expected to turn their attention to alternative targets before the transfer window closes.
Despite missing out on Vinicius, Arteta remains optimistic about Arsenal’s summer recruitment.
Speaking after Arsenal’s 3-1 defeat to Real Betis in Dublin, the Spaniard insisted the club remained ambitious.

“We’re even more excited,” Arteta said.
“We are going to attack every possible title as that’s the ambition we have.
“We will go from strength to strength, whether it’s the players we have, to take them to a different level, or with the market that is still open to recruit as well. We’re optimistic about it.”
The Arsenal boss declined to comment on reports linking the club with Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
“I cannot talk about any player that is not an Arsenal player,” he said.
With Vinicius now firmly committed to Real Madrid until 2032, Arsenal’s pursuit of one of Europe’s biggest attacking stars is officially over, forcing the Premier League champions to look elsewhere as they continue preparations for another title challenge.
