A prominent socio-cultural and political advocacy group, AFA Igbo Efuna Worldwide, has congratulated former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on his emergence as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress for the 2027 general election.
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary-General, Mazi Nzubechi Maduagwu, the group described Atiku’s victory at the ADC presidential primaries as a strong indication that Nigerians are searching for leadership capable of uniting the country beyond ethnic, political, and religious divisions.
The organisation stated that it identified early with the ADC coalition movement, describing the party as a platform positioned to “rescue and rebuild Nigeria.”
According to the statement, the group backed Atiku’s aspiration because of his “experience, political maturity, national reach, and longstanding commitment to democratic values and national development.”
AFA Igbo Efuna Worldwide noted that the widespread support Atiku continues to receive across regions reflects growing public desire for leadership rooted in competence, inclusion, and national stability.
“Your victory at the primaries and the massive support you continue to receive across regions, religions, and ethnic groups clearly demonstrate that Nigerians are looking for a leader who can unite the country beyond political, tribal, and religious divisions,” the statement read.
The group argued that Nigeria’s worsening economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, inflation, and social divisions require a leadership style focused on unity and national rebuilding.
It expressed confidence that Atiku’s candidacy could help restore public confidence in governance, strengthen national cohesion, attract investment, and create opportunities for young Nigerians.
“As you begin this important journey toward the 2027 general election, AFA Igbo Efuna Worldwide assures you of our continued solidarity and unwavering support in the collective mission to build a safer, stronger, and more united Nigeria,” the statement added.
The group ended the message with congratulations to Atiku, Ndi Igbo, and Nigerians at large over what it described as a renewed opportunity for national transformation.
