Eid-Fitr celebration: Police arrest 128 suspected thugs in Kano

Kano State police have announced the arrest of 128 alleged thugs (Yandaba) during the Eid-El Fitr celebrations across the state’s five Emirates.

SP Haruna Kiyawa, the command’s spokesman, revealed this in a press release provided to reporters.

He stated that the arrest was made in accordance with the Inspector-General of Police’s orders on providing appropriate security for the Eid El Fitr celebrations.

According to him, 128 alleged thugs (‘Yan Daba) were apprehended across the state during the “Hawan Eid,” “Hawan Daushe,” “Hawan Nassarawa,” and “Hawan Fanisau.”

He stated that the suspects were apprehended in possession of hazardous weapons, intoxicating narcotics, and stolen property.

Kiyawa said the State Commissioner of Police thanked the Government, sister security agencies, and relevant stallholders for their cooperation and support.

Kiyawa said the suspects would be charged to court after the investigation.
