Ex-LG Boss Stabbed to Death by son’s friends

A former Chairman of Jama’are Local Government Area in Bauchi State, Isa Muhammad Wabi, has died following an early morning attack reportedly carried out by individuals known to his son.

The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement released on Friday by the Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakil.

“On the early morning of Friday, 2 May 2025, at approximately 04:03 hours, the Command received a distress call from a Good Samaritan reporting an attack by a group of youths at Fadaman Mada, located behind the Government Girls’ Secondary School in Bauchi,” the statement read.

Police officers were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they found Mr Wabi, aged 66, in critical condition with multiple injuries. He was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital for emergency medical treatment but was later pronounced dead.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the attack was perpetrated by acquaintances of Mr Wabi’s son, Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed, 24.

The suspects, identified as Ahmad Abdulkadir (alias Abba) and Faruk Malami (alias Ajebo), are believed to have entered the residence around 03:00 hours and conspired to carry out the assault.

According to the police, Mr Wabi sustained multiple stab wounds to the neck during the attack.

“One of the suspects, Ajebo, was found unconscious at the scene, possibly as a result of retaliatory action,” SP Wakil stated.

Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed has been taken into custody for questioning and is said to be cooperating with the investigation, providing valuable information to law enforcement authorities.

The police command affirmed that a full investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the attack and to ensure that all those responsible are held to account.
