A domestic dispute in Kano State turned violent after a woman allegedly stabbed her boyfriend and severed his genitals during an altercation in the Badawa area of the state.
The Kano State Police Command confirmed on Monday that the suspect has been arrested, while the victim is receiving treatment for life-threatening injuries at a medical facility.
According to the police, detectives have launched a full investigation to determine what led to the attack and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a statement, the command said the suspect was taken into custody shortly after the assault.

“The Kano State Police Command has arrested a female suspect for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend and completely cutting off his manhood during a violent altercation in Badawa,” the statement said.
Police added that the victim remains hospitalised as investigators continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses.
Authorities have yet to disclose the identities of the suspect and the victim or reveal the exact cause of the dispute.
The incident is the latest in a series of violent domestic altercations involving genital mutilation reported in Nigeria in recent years.
In May 2025, police in Rivers State arrested a 43-year-old woman, identified as Gift, after she allegedly bit off the tip of her lover’s penis during an argument in the Diobu area of Port Harcourt.

In October 2024, a 28-year-old woman, Yemisi Ogunlana, was arrested in Ogun State for allegedly using a sharp object to cut her husband’s genitals during a domestic quarrel in the Oko-Oba area of Ogijo.
Similarly, in June 2024, a newlywed woman in Kaduna State allegedly attempted to sever her husband’s genitals before neighbours intervened and prevented the attack.
Police said investigations into the Kano incident are ongoing, while the suspect is expected to face prosecution upon the conclusion of the investigation.
