The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the personal particulars of 19 presidential hopefuls for the 2027 general election, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi among those listed.
One of the biggest surprises on the preliminary publication is the absence of former President Goodluck Jonathan, whose name was submitted by the Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Instead, INEC displayed the name of Senator Sandy Onor, nominated by the Wike-backed National Working Committee faction of the PDP.

Also absent from the published particulars is businessman Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, who had claimed to be the Accord Party’s presidential candidate despite the party maintaining that it had no presidential candidate after failing to conclude its nomination process before the deadline.

- Memeh Samuel (DLA)
- Nwanyanwu Daniel Danerechukwu (ZLP)
- Okereke Sunday Chibuzor (LP)
- Okereke Iken Esther (NRM)
- Abbas-Bin Aliyu (ADP)
- Dikwa Suleiman Mohammed (NNPP)
- Adewole Adebayo (SDP)
- Seyi Makinde (APM)
- Yusuf Kabiru (APP)
The Commission simultaneously displayed the candidates’ Form EC9 and accompanying documents across the country in compliance with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act, 2026.

However, INEC clarified that the publication does not constitute the final list of candidates.
Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Adedayuo Oketola, explained that political parties still have until August 22 to withdraw or replace candidates, while the final list will be published on September 12.
