How bandits abducted mother, daughter distributing Sallah relief materials in Kaduna

Terrorists have abducted a mother, daughter and a commercial driver conveying them to Kaduna after a humanitarian mission and distribution of materials to the less privileged at Mariri community in Lere Local Council of the state.

A source told newsmen yesterday, in Kaduna that the victim, Ramatu Abarshi, an engineer and her daughter were returning to Kaduna, after a visit to Mariri village in Kajuru Local Council, where they distributed household items to the less privileged ahead of Sallah celebration.

“She came to distribute cloth and other basic items to orphans ahead of the Eid-el- Fitr celebration.

“She exchanged pleasantries with dozens of people in Mariri and posed for pictures with many people before they left in the evening,” the source added.

According to him, somewhere between ‘Crossing and Kasuwan Magani,’ their vehicle was allegedly attacked by bandits, who abducted them, including the driver.

A family friend to an abducted victim also told newsmen that the bandits have made contact and demanded N100 million for the release of Ramatu and her daughter.

Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammed Jalige, is yet to confirm the incident at press time as he did not pick calls made to his known telephone numbers.
