The Kaduna State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has decried the recent bombing of the Kaduna-bound train on Monday, where several lives were lost and some others kidnapped.

In a statement on Wednesday, the state chairman, John Hayab, said despite the huge funds allocated for security, the state has continued to experience violent attacks.

“Sadly, mourning is now an everyday ordeal in Kaduna even though we have a sitting government with huge security votes disbursed monthly,” Mr Hayab said.

He decried that the attack had further amplified the vulnerability of people who used the train service for businesses.

“CAN and all well-meaning folks have cried that Kaduna residents and visitors across ethnic and religious divides live in fear everywhere and all the time following the dread of bandits have demonstrated more audacity stronger than that of the government of the day.”

He said the association commiserate with families of those who lost their lives in the attack, noting that bandits had demonstrated more audacity, making residents and visitors to Kaduna State live in fear.

“Even while banditry is a heinous crime, the bandits appear to have evolved an extended network for intelligence gathering and planning to fulfil their mission.

“We call on the Federal Government to deploy everything at its disposal to crush the bandits who have had a field day in Kaduna State and elsewhere in Nigeria,” he said.

Mr Hayab appealed to security agencies to employ innovative and professional strategies to deal with the situation and repudiate any political interference in security matters.
