Thugs attacks LP HOA candidate as MC Oluomo threatens non-indigenes

Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, yesterday, reiterated his support for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu while hosting the governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour at his palace.

Oba Akiolu told Gbadebo who came in the company of his father and other supporters on a courtesy visit, that Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, will win Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

“Please, don’t relent after this contest but I am fully behind Sanwo-Olu,” he told the LP candidate.

The monarch, who maintained that Gbadebo has a bright future, wish him well in his future endeavours while calling for a peaceful poll in the state

“I am not a hero worshipper and gossiper. For Gbadebo, the future is open to you. God will not kill you, there is nothing wrong in you contesting. All of those contesting are my children,” he added.

Meanwhile the Director-General of the governorship campaign council of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Dr. Seye O’Dairo, has resigned his appointment less than 48 hours to the poll.

Dairo announced his resignation yesterday in a letter addressed to PDP candidate, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran. It was gathered that the former DG will join the LP team in the state.

However, Adediran has maintained that the PDP has no official alliance with any political party and he is not stepping down for any candidate.

Addressing newsmen at his Campaign Office in Ikeja, Adediran said he was in the race to win and bring in a breath of fresh air.

He urged residents to support his ambition, having presented himself against all odds to challenge the status quo in the state.

Thugs attacks LP HOA candidate as MC Oluomo threatens non-indigenes

Meanwhile, suspected thugs yesterday attacked LP candidate for Surulere Constituency, 28-year-old actor, Olumide Oworu and his supporters during a campaign outing in Surulere.

The candidate and scores of his supporters suffered varying degrees of injuries in the attack. They were also disposed of some of their valuables.

Oworu is the main challenger of fellow actor and film director, Desmond Elliot of the APC.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the attack was reported, stressing that one tricycle belonging to the attackers have been recovered by the security agents.

This comes on a day that a video emerged of the leader of the Lagos motorparks management committee, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as ‘MC Oluomo,’ warning non-indigenes to stay at home if they won’t vote for the APC.

While addressing members of the park management and APC supporters in a viral video, MC Oluomo, who advised them to ensure they vote first, said they know what to do if things are not going as planned.

“We have begged them. If they don’t want to vote for us, it is not a fight. Tell them, mama Chukwudi, if you don’t want to vote for us, sit down at home. Sit down at home,” he said in a viral video shared on Twitter.
