Prince Ademola Adeniyi, the purported Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), has rejected the ongoing investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), insisting that only an independent panel can uncover the truth behind the controversy surrounding the non-existent federal agency.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Adeniyi argued that government agencies could not impartially investigate senior officials of the same administration.
“Government can’t probe Government. Are you telling me that the ICPC would indict Chief Femi Gbajabiamila? It’s not possible,” he said.
He added that although President Bola Tinubu had reportedly set up a panel, what was needed was “an independent panel”, alleging that the Presidency had already exonerated the President’s Chief of Staff,
Adeniyi’s comments came a day before his scheduled arraignment before the Federal High Court in Abuja on charges of forgery, impersonation, and related offences.
In a separate telephone interview with Channels Television, the embattled PFIPC chief said he was not in hiding but had stayed away from public appearances because he feared for his life.
“I’m ready to show my face. I’m not hiding. I’m only fearing for my life because I have it on good authority that my life is in danger,” he said.
He further claimed there had been “several attempts” on his life, although he did not provide details or identify those allegedly responsible.
The development followed an announcement by a United States lobbying firm,

, that it was prepared to assist Adeniyi in seeking asylum and whistleblower protection in the United States.
The firm said it had begun briefing associates of US President
Donald Trump
and members of Congress on allegations made by Adeniyi involving senior Nigerian officials.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force is expected to arraign Adeniyi before the Federal High Court on Tuesday in a case marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025. Prosecutors allege that he operated the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council from the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja before his arrest.
