The Lagos State Government has sealed DONALD Restaurant, owned by popular nightlife entrepreneur Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, due to serious environmental infractions.

The establishment, located in the Lekki area of Lagos, was closed after two of its staff members were caught illegally dumping waste by the roadside.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin, made the announcement via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

He revealed that the Chairman of the Lekki Estate Residents Association (LERA) had, in the early hours of Saturday, 18 May 2025, alerted LAWMA to the illegal dumping of refuse along Durosimi-Etti Street in Lekki Phase 1.

According to Gbadegesin, “A white Ford van with Abuja registration number GWA 136E was caught in the act of indiscriminately discharging waste.”

The vehicle was subsequently traced back to DONALD Restaurant, located on Road 14 within the estate.

The two suspects were apprehended at the scene by the Chief Security Officer of LERA and detained at the LERA Secretariat.

Reports indicate that the individuals attempted to bribe the security team with ₦100,000—an offer that was firmly rejected.

LAWMA’s Monitoring and Compliance Team was promptly dispatched to the site. They took custody of the suspects and sealed the restaurant for gross violations of the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law, 2017.

Gbadegesin added that the suspects would face prosecution in accordance with the law.

“LAWMA remains resolute in its commitment to enforcing environmental regulations across Lagos and urges all residents and businesses to strictly adhere to proper waste management practices. A clean and liveable city is everyone’s responsibility,” he emphasised.
