In a significant development for Nigerian travellers, a valid Schengen visa now opens the doors to 27 European countries, making it easier and more affordable to explore Europe.
Whether for tourism, business, education, or visiting family, Nigerians can now enjoy visa-free travel within the Schengen Area once granted a visa by any of its member states.
The Schengen visa permits holders to travel freely across borders without internal checks for up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
From January 1, 2025, Romania and Bulgaria will officially join the Schengen Area, meaning Nigerians can now travel to these countries with an existing Schengen visa, whether by land, air, or sea.
It is important to note that countries such as the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Cyprus are not part of the Schengen Area. Separate visas will be required for travel to these destinations.
