Mrs. Okiemute Dafe, a Delta-based housewife on Tuesday allegedly hacked her husband to death around Kulup Street off Ekrejegbo, Ughelli North local government area of Delta state for passing the night outside his home.
It was learnt that the deceased and the wife were having a disagreement when the suspect alleged to have used cutlass to hack him from behind on the head.
It was gathered that the trouble started when the deceased who slept out the previous night returned home to the hand of his angry wife in the morning.
It was gathered that the victim simply identified as Dafe, sustained severe body cuts before he was rushed to Ughelli Central Hospital by neighbours.
The woman was said to have earlier stabbed the victim before using a cutlass on him.
The woman who attempted to run after killing the man was apprehended by youths and neighbours in the area.
Meanwhile, there was tension at the Ughelli Central Hospital when the mob attempted to set the woman ablaze after the husband was confirmed dead.
The woman was, however, rescued by police operatives from the Ughelli Police Area Command.
The mob who attempted breaking into the station for the suspect were later dispersed with sporadic gunshots.
When contacted, the Acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident.
Edafe said the incident occurred when the couples were having a disagreement and confirmed that the woman has been arrested and was currently undergoing interrogation in police custody.
