Seyi Tinubu, son of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, has refuted serious allegations made against him by the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Atiku Isah, describing them as entirely fictional and defamatory.

At a press conference held in Abuja on Wednesday, Comrade Isah accused Mr Tinubu and the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, of offering him a N100 million bribe in Lagos to publicly support President Tinubu’s administration.

Isah claimed he rejected the offer, stating he could not endorse a president who, in his view, had failed to fulfil electoral promises.

The NANS President further alleged that, following his refusal, he was abducted by unidentified hoodlums on 15 April. According to his account, he was stripped naked, physically assaulted, and threatened with the release of a compromising video.

“I was abducted on the 15th of April,” Isah told journalists. “I was stripped naked and seriously beaten. They threatened to release a video of the incident and said that even if they killed me, Seyi Tinubu would ensure it was covered up.

“I made it clear that even if I were shot, I would still attend this press briefing. The inauguration went ahead, and I was announced as president. I want Nigerians to know the truth about what happened. Seyi Tinubu may try to silence us, but we are determined to speak out.”

In response, Mr Tinubu took to Instagram Stories on Friday to reject the claims, stating that he had never met Isah and had never been involved in any such meeting or event.

“Wow… how can someone lie with such confidence? This is clearly an attempt to defame my character. May God be with you, Comrade Atiku Isah,” he wrote.

He continued: “I have never held a meeting to discuss any matter with Comrade Isah in Lagos or anywhere else in the world. I have never knowingly met him before, nor did I visit any location with thugs. All these allegations made by Atiku Isah are completely fictional.”

As of the time of reporting, there has been no official statement from the presidency or the Ministry of Youth Development regarding the matter.

The allegations, if substantiated, could have significant political and legal implications. Calls for an independent investigation into the incident are likely to intensify in the coming days.
