Chairman of the Alliance for Economic Research and Ethics (AERE), Dele Oye, is set to lead a high level discussion on foreign investment, corporate governance and cross border compliance at the 66th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Oye will moderate the session titled “Borderless Boardrooms”, scheduled for Monday, August 24, 2026, from 2:40pm to 4:10pm at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Elekehia, Port Harcourt.
The session will examine how Nigerian companies can strengthen corporate governance structures, adopt international best practices and position themselves to attract foreign capital as technology continues to reshape the way businesses operate across borders.

According to the NBA, the discussion will also explore how Nigerian corporate boards can navigate the increasing adoption of virtual operations while managing complex cross border regulatory and compliance requirements.
The session comes at a time when Nigerian businesses are operating in an increasingly interconnected global marketplace, where access to foreign investment is closely linked to corporate governance, regulatory transparency, institutional credibility and compliance with international standards.
The discussion is expected to bring together legal practitioners, corporate executives, investors and other stakeholders to examine the opportunities and challenges created by the removal of geographical barriers to international trade and investment.
Oye’s participation adds an economic and corporate governance dimension to the conference programme, particularly as Nigerian businesses seek to attract international capital while demonstrating that their governance systems meet the expectations of global investors and regulators.
The NBA’s 66th Annual General Conference, themed “Beyond Limits,” is holding from August 21 to 28, 2026, bringing together distinguished jurists, policymakers, thought leaders and industry experts to deliberate on issues affecting Nigeria’s legal, economic and business environment.
According to the conference organisers, discussions will cover a broad range of national and global issues, including economic growth, industry and trade development, foreign exchange regulation, legal sector advancement and Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global economy.
The organisers also said participants would engage in discussions on contemporary social justice issues while benefiting from professional networking, peer to peer knowledge exchange and other activities throughout the conference.
Former President of Liberia, George Weah, is expected to deliver the keynote address at the conference.
In their invitation to Oye, the Chairman and Secretary of the Annual General Conference Planning Committee, Abdul Mohammed, SAN, and Barbara Omosun, respectively, described the “Borderless Boardrooms” session as an opportunity to examine international best practices in board governance and strategies for attracting foreign investment.
They said: “Nigerian companies do not operate in isolation, particularly in an ever shrinking world, thanks to technology.”

The organisers added that the session would examine how Nigerian boards can strengthen corporate governance, navigate international best practices while adopting virtual operations, attract foreign capital and effectively manage cross border compliance.
The session is therefore expected to focus on a central question facing Nigerian businesses: how can companies operate beyond domestic markets and attract international capital while maintaining governance structures capable of meeting increasingly demanding global standards?
The discussion will form part of the wider conversations at the conference on how Nigeria can strengthen its economic competitiveness, improve its investment environment and enable businesses to operate more effectively within the global economy.
