A former adult film actress, Deyci Alejandra Omaña Ortiz, popularly known by her stage name Amaranta Hank, has been sworn in as a senator in Colombia after winning a seat in the country’s March parliamentary elections.
According to Colombian newspaper El Tiempo, Omaña will represent the Norte de Santander region as a member of the leftist Historic Pact coalition during the 2026–2030 legislative term.
She secured a Senate seat after placing 23rd on the coalition’s closed party list.

The Historic Pact emerged as Colombia’s largest political force in the election, winning 22.72 per cent of the Senate vote with more than 4.4 million ballots and securing 25 seats, according to the country’s National Registry.
Before entering politics, Omaña worked as a journalist before transitioning into the adult entertainment industry. She has repeatedly argued that her previous career should not define her ability to serve in public office.
According to Infobae Colombia, the newly sworn-in senator believes women who have worked in the sex industry deserve legal recognition and protection rather than discrimination, noting that they contribute to the country’s economy.
Responding to critics in a TikTok video, she said:
“Why can’t a woman who was in the adult industry aspire to a popularly elected office?”
Omaña said her legislative priorities will include advancing the rights and protections of workers in the adult entertainment industry, improving mental health services and strengthening efforts to combat sexual abuse.

Her emergence in Colombian politics has attracted widespread attention, particularly after she and fellow former adult performer Juan Carlos Florián were appointed deputy ministers in Colombia’s Ministry of Equality earlier this year, a decision that generated significant public debate within President Gustavo Petro’s administration.
Omaña’s swearing-in marks one of the most closely watched political transitions in Colombia, highlighting ongoing debates over representation, stigma and who should be eligible to hold public office.
