The governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Kano state, Bashir Ishaq Bashir, on Sunday met the Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in preparation for his official defection to the ruling APC.

It was gathered that Bashir will be officially welcomed to the APC during the its presidentially rally in Kano, according to sources at the meeting held in Abuja.

APC recently postponed its presidential campaign rally in Kano indefinitely. The rally was earlier slated for February 16.

However, Bashir has neither officially announced his defection from LP nor stated whether he would abandon his gubernatorial ambition or not.

Recall that Bashir boycotted the presidential rlly of the Labour Party in Lano, alleging that he was not carried along by its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Among those who shunned Obi’s rally were LP Presidential Campaign Council director in Kano, Mohammed Zarewa; state coordinator of Peter Obi’s campaign, Balarabe Wakili; and Idris Dambazau, a member of the presidential campaign council.
