Former Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has suffered a setback at his polling unit in Ilesa, where the All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded a decisive victory in Saturday’s governorship election.
The APC polled 256 votes to emerge winner at the polling unit, while the Accord Party secured 43 votes.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) finished a distant third with 13 votes.
The result is significant given Aregbesola’s political prominence in Osun State and his influence in Ijesaland, making his polling unit one of the locations closely watched during the election.

The APC’s 213 vote margin over Accord represents a commanding performance, with the party securing substantially more votes than Accord and ADC combined.
Earlier in the day, Aregbesola arrived at his polling location to cast his ballot, attracting the attention of voters, party supporters and political observers.

The outcome at the polling unit adds another layer to the unfolding results from Ilesa and the wider Ijesaland axis, which is regarded as strategically important to the governorship contest.
As collation continues, attention is now shifting to results from other polling units and wards across Ilesa and the wider state, particularly areas considered strongholds of the leading parties.
