Former Kano State governor and chieftain of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed optimism that Nigeria will overcome its current challenges as the party moves to strengthen its grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kwankwaso spoke after meeting the NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, alongside the party’s governorship, senatorial and other candidates at the Obidient Headquarters in Abuja.
The former governor said the meeting focused on strategies to expand and deepen the party’s reach, particularly by taking its message of “national redemption” beyond urban centres to rural communities and the grassroots.

According to him, his partnership with Obi is anchored on a shared commitment to addressing poverty, reducing the number of out of school children and improving opportunities for vulnerable Nigerians.
He said the partnership would also focus on supporting small and medium sized businesses, strengthening national security, promoting national unity and moving the country away from a consumption driven economy towards production.

“Our dynamic partnership with His Excellency Peter Obi is rooted in a shared commitment to lifting vulnerable Nigerians out of poverty, reducing the number of out of school children, supporting small and medium sized businesses, securing our nation, uniting our people, and moving Nigeria from consumption to production,” Kwankwaso said.
He said the NDC would continue to strengthen its structures and engage communities at the grassroots as it seeks to broaden its political base ahead of the 2027 elections.
Kwankwaso ended his message on an optimistic note, declaring: “Nigeria will be OK.”
