Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has unveiled the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), Jerry Adams, as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election, confirming earlier reports that he had settled for a Christian from Southern Kaduna.

The announcement, made in a statement personally signed by the governor on Tuesday, officially confirmed Adams as the deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 poll.

Governor Sani described the nomination as a major step towards building a more united, peaceful and inclusive Kaduna State, saying the choice reflects his administration’s commitment to fairness, equity and inclusive governance.

“Today, we take another decisive step in our collective journey towards building a more united, peaceful and inclusive Kaduna State,” the governor said.

According to him, the decision goes beyond selecting a running mate and reaffirms the principles that have guided his administration since assuming office on May 29, 2023.

Sani noted that Kaduna’s religious, ethnic and cultural diversity remains one of its greatest strengths, stressing that lasting peace and sustainable development can only be achieved through inclusive leadership and equal opportunities for all citizens.

He said his administration has deliberately ensured that development projects are spread across the state’s 23 local government areas, with investments in roads, healthcare, education, agriculture, water supply, rural development and social protection based on the principle that no community should be left behind.

The governor also highlighted efforts to strengthen collaboration with traditional rulers, religious leaders, community groups, women and youth organisations to consolidate peace across the state.

He added that the improving security situation has enabled farmers to return to their fields, encouraged business expansion and restored investor confidence.

Explaining his choice of Adams, Sani commended the KADIRS chairman for improving the state’s internally generated revenue through innovation, transparency and professionalism, saying the increased revenue had enabled greater investment in critical sectors of the economy.

He described Adams as “a man of integrity, humility and quiet strength” who has consistently demonstrated commitment to peace, reconciliation and inclusive governance.

According to the governor, the nomination underscores his administration’s determination to ensure that merit, competence and character remain the defining criteria for public leadership.

Sani urged Kaduna residents to see the choice beyond religious, ethnic or regional considerations and embrace the broader vision of a state where every citizen has a sense of belonging and equal opportunity to succeed.

He expressed confidence that his administration would build on the achievements of the past three years and continue to deliver a more united, secure, just and prosperous Kaduna State.

The announcement confirms earlier reports that the governor had chosen a Christian from Southern Kaduna as his running mate, with Jerry Adams emerging as the preferred candidate.
